Problem

A small gift shop needed an online storefront that was fast, mobile-friendly and easy to maintain — without the complexity and cost of a full CMS or e-commerce platform.

Approach

Built a responsive e-commerce frontend from scratch using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Focused on a mobile-first design with clean product cards, smooth cart interactions and form validation — proving that a lightweight, custom solution can deliver a professional shopping experience.

Architecture

Static HTML structure with CSS Grid for responsive product layouts. JavaScript handles cart state management, local storage persistence, and form validation. No framework dependencies — pure vanilla implementation.

Technology

HTML5CSS3JavaScriptCSS GridLocal Storage

Chosen for zero dependencies, fast load times and complete control over the shopping experience.

Key Features

  • Responsive product grid with hover interactions
  • Shopping cart with add/remove and quantity management
  • Local storage persistence for cart state
  • Contact/order form with client-side validation
  • Mobile-first design that works across all devices

Challenges

Building a smooth cart experience without a framework, ensuring consistent layout across screen sizes, and implementing reliable form validation that handles edge cases gracefully.

Outcome

Demonstrates frontend engineering skills — responsive design, vanilla JavaScript state management, and the ability to build a complete, professional e-commerce experience without frameworks.
